*Intro*
"Take her and that filthy suitcase to her room, and show her what her duties are."
"Yes, Mrs. Dallas," said Señora Rosario.
"I won't tolerate another lazy Mexican in my house or on my grounds," my aunt said, and started to turn away.
I quickly spoke up in my newest English words.
"Thank you, Mrs. Dallas. I'm pleased to be here and grateful for all you are doing for me," I said.
Followed by Delia walking to her cold cement room where the help stay. Unpacking the little of what she brought from Mexico.
~~An image flashes of a car accident in Mexico down a dirt road… Both Delia’s parent killed.~~
Delia is then shown by Senora Rosario, the duties she must imply while living in her Aunts house in California. Which include dishes, cleaning bedrooms, mostly that of Sophia her cousins. And some other simple dirty things that must be taken care of.*Commercial*
Then there is the dinner meal where even Delia has to serve the cousins and Aunt the meal, due to her Aunt not mentioning who Delia is actually to them. Isabella hates where she came from and doesn’t want anything to deal about her past.
So Delia must eat her dinner in the kitchen along with the other help.
Sophia: Mother, may I have some money to go out with my friends? I need a new outfit for this upcoming party.
Isabella: Sure.
Edward: *Intrigued by the new help*
~Delia then cleans up after the dinner. And Isabella, Sophia and Edward go off on their own to whatever they usually do.~
Edward seeks out to talk to DeliaSome words are exchanged about why Delia came to America, and why to their place. She can’t really say due to Isabella telling her not to. But they hit it off very well with getting to know each other. Even though Edward doesn’t know that much Spanish. Nor does Delia know much English.
*Commercial*
The next morning Edward and Sophia head off to school, and Delia gets to work on cleaning the rooms. Sophia comes home and something isn’t right in her room, she knows where she has to go, to find the new help!
Sophia starts ranting and raving about how awful the new help is at cleaning her room, through the whole house. And finally finds Delia in the kitchen, and starts to bitch at her for not putting so and so in place.
Where Delia has no idea what is being said, Edward shows up and tries to clam Sophia down.
~Isabella shows up and shoos everyone away.~
Isabella talks to Delia in English, about that she is going to be getting tutored to learn English.
*Commercial*
The next day Delia does all of her duties, and by lunch time it is time to study. She meets up with Senor Baker. Who is a tall, bored guy, who has a strange vibe to him. They then practice as much as possible, and he drills her to make sure she can speak English in new time, so she can go to a public school, for Isabellas wishes.

About the book, it has 3 novels. And each one has a new adventure for Delia. That takes place in both America and Mexico. Delia goes to a public school, falls in love with a kid, and being treated horribly by her Aunt, she has decided to run/escape to Mexico with this kid. She has some struggles in the middle where she gets raped, and has an abortion. And that’s just the first book… More to follow in the second and third… You will just have to wait and find out!!
I will be following the book as close as I can for the TV show; this is a good story, about struggles and overcoming them. And being able to actually have a love story and a family meaning towards the end.
I read these books a while ago so it’s kind of hard to remember the details, which is why this story has a not so great feeling to it. But the concept is that you will fall in love with Delia and Edwards relationship. And hate Sophia and Isabella.
